In one of His most infamous quotes, Jesus said: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As I was staring at this verse in John 14:6 what hit me was the implication of what He said. Few of us live as if Jesus was truly the Way, the Truth and the Life, but we live as if somehow within us we can be like Him. For many of us, we are our way, our truth, and our life. We have substituted ourselves for Christ in this passage. We trust ourselves, we trust our own wisdom, we trust our own reason, and we trust our own ability to somehow navigate the paths of our life. What a joke! Thus, for Jesus to have His rightful role in our lives, it means that we have to get out of the way, we have to actually let Him control all the areas of our life in which we seem to comfortably rule and reign. If we don’t, then guess what? We will rarely, if at all, experience the wonders of having an intimate and deeply personal relationship and experience with Jesus. By the way, I know it seems like this is just a bunch of spiritual talk; but I am telling you it is possible. It is absolutely possible to know His peace, His rest, and the comfort of His presence. Yes, the intangible God can tangibly and practically be your Way, your Truth, and your Life.
